The Nissan all-electric Ariya has been voted the Auto Express Car of the Year 2022.
The car, which also took the title for best mid-sized company car, is Nissan’s second mass-market EV following the Leaf.
As well as specific EV category wins, there was success for electric cars in traditional car categories, too.
The new all-electric Fiat 500 scooped the best City Car trophy and the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric was named Best Company Car.
Auto Express flagged up the British success at the Awards, with the all-new Range Rover winning the Luxury Car category, and the Land Rover Defender named Best Large Premium SUV.
The Oxford-built MINI took the Award for Best Convertible, while an old British brand (but now Chinese-owned) MG returned to the top step of the podium with a win for the MG ZS EV.
