Another gospel entertainer has come out to remind people of the ‘reason for the season’.

“All isn’t lost but as a people we do [forget],” said Chozenn.

The reggae-gospel artiste was speaking to The Gleaner about people losing the understanding of the real reason for celebrating Christmas.

He said, “It is so commercialised now, about business and bucket lists being fulfilled, the true meaning isn’t at the core anymore. However, as ministers of the gospel we must be that glimmer of hope and remind people Christ is still Lord as we celebrate his birth”.

As a man who likes to enjoy the festivities of family and food, Chozenn says he believes some persons get wrapped up in the giving of gifts around the holidays, while others are blinded by all that is happening around them – from the shopping to the cooking. The other distraction this year is COVID-19. The gospel entertainer wants to be the voice that reminds people to include “ A Likkle More Jesus” in their celebrations.

“Some want food, some want clothes and shoes and all the materialistic things, I just want ‘a likkle more Jesus’,” said Chozenn who was immodest about repeating that phrase, being that it is actually the title of a song that is slated for release this weekend.

Chozenn, who has been labelled as controversial for remixing hardcore dancehall tracks, including Dovey Magnum’s Bawl Out and Dexta Daps’ No Underwear – expressed that his objectives have always been righteous despite the method that he uses.

“Personally I’m driven by the Holy Spirit and pure intentions. The reach and how the message is received is all in God’s hands, but my vibrant ministry cannot be placed in a box because I am a unique music minister with limitless potential,” he said. “Music is unpredictable and I have content for all audiences even as I continue to be my authentic self because being unorthodox is a blessing. Christ was as well.”

The artiste’s latest single A Likkle More Jesus is an eye-opener, but it’s not going to “drive anyone up a wall”, Chozenn promised, noting that he will be closing off 2020 without any type of controversy as he prepares for a double-release on Christmas Day. The introduction is parallel to an R&B love song but Chozenn immediately clarified that it is a declaration of love for God through a rhythm that is a vibrant mix of R&B with signature reggae and dancehall sounds. The second track Almighty is already out for people to listen to but the production of the official music video has recently been completed.

He said, “My overarching message is, yes, it is good to have it all, eat and overindulge, but let’s remember, Christ is our Lord and Saviour. He is the sovereign God, he is almighty and worthy to be praised even in the midst of a pandemic we should raise our faith and worship him. Both songs are cool reminders of what the true meaning of Christmas is, celebrating His birth and life and people will enjoy the music video for Almighty”.

A Likkle More Jesus features one of Trinidad’s rising stars in the gospel community, Ryan ‘Nathaneal’ Hamilton, who also released a single titled ‘Tis the Feelings in which he endeavours to remind persons of Christmas’ original purpose.

“Nathanael is a musical genius, guru and a master in regards to content creativity. I happened to meet him on social media a few years ago and got stuck to his songs Appointment and For Better or Worse. His unique sound and song writing skills is unmatched. Nathanael instantly and effortlessly captivates any listening ear. Working with him is a blessing. Listeners will not be disappointed and will get the message loud and clear,” he said.
