Nine people, including an unrestrained baby, were found crammed inside a van by shocked police officers.
There was also a washing machine, a number of bags and clothing in the back of the vehicle.
Leicestershire Live reported that the vehicle had been seized and the driver is now facing a fine for breaking the law.
The Leicestershire Police roads policing unit shared news of the incident in a tweet last night, adding: “Can anyone guess how many people were sat in this van? #ItWasJustLessThanTen.
“More appallingly one of the passengers was an unrestrained baby. Driver has been reported and the vehicle seized.”

The law requires that drivers and passengers aged 14 and over in cars, vans and other commercial vehicles must wear a seatbelt, if available. Drivers are responsible for making sure that anyone under the age of 14 wears a seat belt or uses the right child restraint as required by law.
Drivers may get a fine of £500 and three penalty points for not wearing a seat belt. Those carrying a child under 14 without the proper restraint could be liable for a fine of £500 and three penalty points.
For passengers 14 years old and over, it is their own responsibility to make sure that they wear a seat belt if there is one available. As a passenger you may get a fine of £500 for not wearing a seat belt and can be awarded two penalty points.
