A hugely popular classic car festival is heading for the Borders this summer.

The Sir Jackie Stewart Classic Festival of Motoring will take place at Thirlestane Castle on June 18 and 19 – just a 45-minute drive from Edinburgh.

Sir Jackie will be in attendance alongside other high profile guests for a weekend of live motorsport action and an award-winning car show.

This family-friendly event will showcase the career and achievements of three-time FIA Formula 1 Drivers’ World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, and give visitors the chance to explore his remarkable career with plentiful displays of his cars – including his championship-winning F1 cars – and memorabilia.

Exhilarating live-action will be provided by the Scottish Motor Racing Club as classic and contemporary cars hurtle up the castle’s sweeping driveway.

A celebration of Scottish culture, the event will allow guests to shop around for and enjoy local produce in the food and retail village, and offer a chance to tuck into the finest food and drink or browse a range of arts and crafts.

Vendors on display include Belhaven Smokehouse, Saltrock Brewing, Juicy Meat Co. and Sherlock Holmes Tartan.

For young people, there will also be an education tent showcasing sustainable technology for the future to inspire careers in STEM, as well as a children’s play zone.

The weekend also marks the 50th anniversary of the Borders Vintage Automobile Club (BVAC), one of the biggest and best car rallies in the country on Sunday, June 19.

Visitors can check out the display of over 1,200 Veteran, Vintage and Classic Cars, Motorcycles, American Cars, Commercial, Agricultural and Military Vehicles on show.

The Sir Jackie Stewart Classic is being held in aid of Race Against Dementia, the global charity founded by Sir Jackie to raise money for research into prevention and treatment for dementia, a disease that affects 50 million people worldwide including his beloved wife, Helen.
