Three-time Jamaican Olympic Men’s 100m champion Usain Bolt says he is open to a race against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
And he’s willing to put a gold medal at stake, if Hill will wager his Super Bowl LIV (54) ring.
Bolt made the announcement while appearing on The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday.
Hill, who prefers a distance of 40m, proposed a 70m race as a compromise to Bolt’s 100m. Patrick suggested that if the race does take place, it should happen a week after the Super Bowl, which takes place on February 13, 2022.
“[Hill’s] been talking, so we’ll see,” Bolt said. “We should put some thought into that one.”
Hill first mentioned the idea of both men racing during his team’s training camp on July 30.
“Usain Bolt got out the game for a reason, right?” Hill said. “He’s old, he’s washed up and he can’t see me at 40 yards. 100-yard dash? Yes, that’s what he do.”
Hill, now 27, is also a former sprinter. He won gold for the USA in the Men’s 4x100m relay at the World Athletics Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain in 2012, and took bronze in the 200m at the same tournament.
