MAKEUPARTIST made all the running to notch her fifth win from six starts, beating overnight allowance rivals by almost six lengths in a fast 1:11.4 for six furlongs yesterday.

MAKEUPARTIST’s victory tightened leading owner Carlton Watson’s hold on his stakes lead whereas Jason DaCosta crept closer to Anthony Nunes in the trainers’ standings.

The expected match-up between MAKEUPARTIST and 4-5 favourite SOLID APPROACH failed to materialise. United States-bred SOLID APPROACH was never in the hunt and finished a sputtering 11th in the 12-horse field.

MAKEUPARTIST handed leading rider Anthony Thomas a two-timer on the 10-race card after he had guided home 1-2 favourite, PAPA ALBERT, in the third event for trainer Steven Todd, who sealed a three-timer in the stewards’ room with GENERAL MUBARAAK.

Todd’s SWEET RENISHA had closed from off the pace to stun the field at 27-1 in the second event before PAPA ALBERT outfinished rivals in the third.

GENERAL MUBARAAK was awarded the sixth at odds of 6-1 after first-past-the-post CONGRATS SUCKIE was disqualified out of the event for causing the fall of Aaron Chatrie astride STORMY LADY shortly after the start of the six-furlong race.
