Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls and England Roses are scheduled to square off in a three-test netball series in London, England in November.

The Vitality Roses Reunited Series, is scheduled to begin at the Copper Box Arena in London on November 28, before moving to the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham where the Sunshine Girls will play the Roses their final two matches on December 4 and 5.

The series was originally scheduled for January of this year but it was rescheduled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions in place between the two countries. The Sunshine Girls are fourth in the world, one below their England counterparts.

EXCITING SERIES

Sunshine Girls head coach Connie Francis said despite the challenges they faced this year because of the pandemic, they are looking forward to a competitive series.

“It has been challenging for us as a team, but collectively we are up to the task,” Francis said in a press release. “We have a good team and we will do our best.”

Roses’ head coach Jess Thirlby echoed those sentiments.

“This is going to be an exciting series for the Vitality Roses and our fans, and is an important part of our preparation for next year’s Commonwealth Games,” she said.

“We’ve missed getting out there in front of a home crowd and this will be an incredible opportunity to play a top team whilst reuniting both the Roses players and our supporters.”

England Netball Performance Director David Parsons said they have worked hard over the last nine months with Netball Jamaica to put the series together and he is pleased that it will finally go ahead.

“We are grateful to everyone in the Jamaica camp for working closely with us to reschedule fixtures after our games couldn’t go ahead earlier this year,” he said. “We know Jamaica will bring everything to the court and be a part of a brilliant spectacle of netball.”
